NZ’s first Listen Live Platform – “Listen Live NZ”

TriOceans Education Trust and TriOceans Ltd are proposing to launch “Listen Live NZ” which will provide the first New Zealand public marine listening platform and associated school acoustics program, making the world of underwater acoustics accessible to all.

Based in the heart of the new Te Pēwhairangi (Bay of Islands) Marine Mammal Sanctuary, a fixed hydrophone will be deployed by TriOceans acousticians, broadcasting live to a brand new interactive webpage. Further to this, the hydrophone will broadcast to our new marine education centre.

The webpage has a global audience whilst the associated school outreach component will engage students from selected coastal schools across Northland. Rangatahi will have the opportunity to build and deploy their own kitset hydrophone, directly inspiring the marine kaitiaki of tomorrow.

Our donation goal will purchase the equipment required to install and run the hydrophone.
